Retrospection, Introspection, and Celebration

*Katy Perry's birthday party a year or two ago. Doesn't it look like fun?! wehearit*

Today marks the first birthday of Diamond in the Dark! Today one year ago I decided to start my personal blog and see where it would take me. I never imaged how helpful and insightful it is to put my feelings out to the universe and see what returns to me. Although I am careful with what I say, since text can easily be taken the wrong way, I am much more open than I ever thought I would be. I honestly didn't have much in mind when I started blogging. I thought I'd do some outfit posts, improve my style, and have a good time. I never thought I'd be giving out my opinions regularly as well as updates on my daily life, as well as my small business. I never could have seen how far this would take me.

I'm really happy with how different and yet similar I am to the girl I was one year ago. At sixteen going on seventeen I was unsure of myself. I knew I wanted certain things, Editor in Chief of yearbook, college, to move in with my boyfriend at the time, ect, but I don't know if I really understood the gravity of those things. I didn't know exactly how much effort Editor in Chief would take, even though I adore it and it is completely worth the blood, sweater, and tears (figuratively). I also didn't understand things about relationships that I do now and I'm glad for that. I'm proud of how far I've come this year.

I'd just like to thank every one of my readers for the support and love you've all given me. My friends and family have all been so supportive as well and I appreciate that greatly. I appreciate you all so very very much. I love you all, even if our paths never fully cross. I adore you. ♥

And to celebrate my sweet little blog's birthday I will be dancing the night away at Homecoming and then Paige's after party tonight! I promise to take a million pictures and update you all on my night as soon as possible. :) Have a wonderful January 29, 2011!

Love and Turtledoves,

I will be eating whatever I want today, it is my birthday after all ;) Sorry Pants. ♥

Goodbye... January?

I'd just like to ask....

Where did January go?!

Seriously, what happened to this month? I feel like I just posted about the new year, how excited I was to start a new chapter... And the first month is already out the door! I feel like I was just on winter break, although that was two, going on three, weeks ago. I'm really surprised how time flies when you're out of the house six days a week.

I guess I thought this year was going to take it's sweet time like the other half of the school year had, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. February is in a week, Valentine's Day is in three weeks (oh what to do...), and then March is in five weeks(!!!). I'm pretty sure it's going to be summer before I know it and I'll have another "where has the time gone" post.

I seriously am loving 2011.
Love and Turtledoves,

P.S. Hope you love the new blog layout!

I'd just like to say WOW

Until these last few weeks I didn't realize how much I relied on the internet. How much time I spend checking email, writing blogs, reading blogs, it all is catching up to me. I never thought I would be so realiant on such a simple thing, but I now know I totally am.

I miss reading blogs every morning, catching up on all the gals I completely adore. I miss Kaylah's cats, Danielle's insights, James' outfits, Katie's creatures and oh so so much more. I miss my blogging friends. No... that's not right, I miss my blogging family.

I will have internet back on the 23rd and I will be back to my happy blogging self. Anyway, here is a my week(s) in pictures. ♥

I worked on my Nerd Chic.

I destroyed my knees in cheer. (they're worse today)

I bought my Homecoming dress!

I dog sat the biggest dogs alive. ♥

I made a tasty casserole.

And I spent time with silly Swedes!

Well, I'm off to my skype date with William! ♥
I miss you all oh so so so much, honestly I do. I feel like a huge part of my life is missing. ♥ I promise to return soon :)

January 2011

My last few weeks have been really very nice. My break ended Monday, we returned to the grind stone. My thoughts have been heavily on yearbook, since our first deadline is this month. We need to finish close to seventy or eighty pages by the 28th (ish) and it's slow going. I have confidence in my team and in myself, it's just nerve racking. Especially because that week, I believe, is my school's spirit week.

We have a four day week of themed costume days, for example we've had superhero day, hobo day, game day, and fairytale day in past years. The entire high school parades around in their costumes and receive spirit points for skits, games, and decorating a section of the fence. At the end of the week, whichever class has the most spirit points get their name engraved on our school's sword, because we're the Warriors which is a knight. Basically it's a really big deal.
Freshmen year, Superhero Day. I was Mighty Mouse.

From blue and gold day last year. Warrior pride!

Then at the end of spirit week is the homecoming basketball game, since we are without football team, and then the homecoming dance the following night. It's pretty much the most enjoyable and important week of the school year. Hopefully I won't be completely brain dead by the time we're done.

January is going to be a beautiful month, especially because we have the next few Mondays off. It's going to be full of fun and cheering and hopefully getting the yearbook put together. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll win senior queen too, I was princess sophomore year! Don't believe me?

Here's a better one, I don't have any of me with my crown or sash though.

I think 2011 is going to be a good year.

The first week of 2011

I'm so sorry to have been so quiet lately! My internet at home is going to be a bother for the next month or so, but I'll be trying to get on more often. I'm going to start going to Starbucks more often and mooch off of their net, hehe. Whatever works right?

It's been a wonderful new year so far, here are a few pictures of my first week of January ♥

I bought a new hat.

I fit in a skirt I literally have never fit into.

It snowed!

I dyed my hair as dark as it can possibly go.

And I got a new sewing machine!

What have you been doing this wonderful first week of Two Thousand and Heaven?

OMG skype

Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl who really really liked each other. They talked very often but hadn't seen one another in a very long time. They started to miss one another very much, and one night decided to try out Skype. And boy were they happy they did!

They discovered how nice it is to see one another and spend time with one another. The boy could finally show off his wood paneling and the girl could flash her smile, they could be happy together in another way.

And everything was perfect ♥
